What should you expect from your session with me?
From the moment you arrive, your only job is to be present with your people.
No pressure. No perfect poses. No forcing moments that aren’t real.
I’ll guide you when you need it — with natural movement, simple prompts, and direction that never feels stiff. But more than anything, I’m watching for what’s already there… and preserving it.
The laughter. The chaos. The way your kids cling to you, run from you, or melt into you.
Kids can move. Babies can cry. Teens can roll their eyes.
It’s all part of your story — and it deserves to be captured honestly.
You don’t need to "prepare" and stress for this. Just show up, love your people well…
and trust me to see what matters most.
FAQ
How many pictures will we receive?
The number of images delivered varies based on the type and length of your session. Rather than setting a strict image count, I focus on capturing your story fully. You’ll receive all of the best, fully edited images from your session in a private online gallery, ready for download and sharing.
If it’s a moment worth capturing, it’s a moment worth delivering 🤍
Do you retouch photos?
Yes — I do light, natural retouching such as blemish removal, minor stain cleanup, and teeth whitening when needed. I do not airbrush skin, remove wrinkles, or alter body shape. My goal is to capture you beautifully and honestly, just as you are.
I never know what to do for pictures. Do you pose us?
Yes — but very gently.
I’ll guide you into natural positions so you’re never left wondering what to do, but nothing will feel stiff or overly posed.
Instead of “posing,” I love to use prompts.
I might have you walk together, pull your kids in close, whisper something sweet, make them laugh, or even do something a little silly to get real reactions. Sometimes I’ll guide you into quiet, connected moments… other times I’ll bring out movement, play, or a little chaos.
That’s where the magic is.
You won’t be standing there smiling at the camera the whole time.
You’ll be interacting, laughing, loving on your people — and I’ll be capturing it as it naturally unfolds.
I’m there every step of the way, giving just enough direction so you feel confident...while leaving all the space for the real moments to happen.
How should we dress for our family session?
Think comfortable, coordinated, and true to you...not perfectly matched or overly styled. The goal is to let your people shine, not the outfits. They are compliments to you and your family.
Start with a soft, neutral color palette (creams, tans, browns, soft blues, muted greens, dusty florals) and build from there.
Choose 2–3 main colors and mix textures rather than everyone wearing the exact same thing. Layers, movement, and natural fabrics photograph beautifully and add depth to your images.
A few helpful tips:
- Avoid bold logos, neon colors, heavy patterns, or super bright whites. They can distract and pull attention away from faces.
- Say yes to flowy dresses, linen shirts, sweaters, denim, and clothes that move when you walk or laugh.
- Dress for comfort. If you’re tugging, adjusting, or uncomfortable, it will show. Comfort always photographs better than “perfect.”
- Shoes matter! Neutral or brown shoes usually photograph best. Barefoot is always welcome if the location allows.
- Kids don’t need to be stiff. Let them be kids: rolled sleeves, untucked shirts, and movement are always encouraged.
Most importantly: don’t stress. You don’t need to look like a Pinterest board. You just need to look like you.
I’m happy to help with outfit planning or approve choices ahead of time if you want a second set of eyes 🤍
What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?
For Fresh 48 sessions, the first 24–48 hours after birth capture the raw, sacred beginning — tiny details, hospital bracelets, first snuggles, and the overwhelming love of those earliest hours.
For Lifestyle Newborn sessions, the sweet spot is usually within the first 1–4 weeks. Babies are still small and snuggly, but parents have had a little time to settle in at home. These sessions are relaxed, baby-led, and focused on connection — feeding, rocking, cuddling, and real life as it unfolds.
No matter when you choose, your baby will be perfect — and your story deserves to be remembered exactly as it is in that moment.
What if my children don't cooperate?
That’s completely okay — and expected. I don’t require perfect behavior or forced smiles. Wiggles, energy, curiosity, and even shy moments are all part of your family’s story. Some of the most meaningful images come from those in-between moments.
How far in advance should we book?
The sooner, the better — especially for newborn, maternity, weddings, and fall family sessions. Limited availability ensures each session receives the care and attention it deserves.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions can take place outdoors at a natural-light location or in your home for lifestyle sessions. I’m happy to help recommend locations that fit your vision and vibe.
I do offer in-studio sessions as well; however, there are additional costs.
What if the weather doesn't cooperate?
If weather becomes an issue for outdoor sessions, we’ll reschedule or adjust as needed. I always prioritize comfort, safety, and the best possible outcome for your session.
When will we receive our pictures?
For most sessions, turnaround time is typically 2–3 weeks. You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can download your images and share them with loved ones. Weddings have an average turnaround time of 6-8 weeks.
What happens if I have to reschedule?
Just send me a message as soon as you can. My goal is to ALWAYS work with my families.
Unfortunate things happen and come up at some point for us all: cars break down, people get sick, unexpected work happenings, loved ones pass, etc.
If the session is one that cannot be repeated for whatever reason, then I will apply your payments/deposits to another session - refunds will be offered where applicable.
